Generous Donors Bring Cancer Care Home

Grand Rapids, MN – Grand Itasca Foundation and the Close to Home Capital Campaign Steering Committee are delighted to announce that they have exceeded their $2 million goal for cancer and infusion care at Grand Itasca Clinic & Hospital, thanks to a generous outpouring from the community.

"We are so thankful for the generosity and support that our community has offered to this wonderful community project. The construction has started and we look forward to unveiling the new space and celebrating with the hundreds of donors who are making this project possible for our community." says Kelly Kirwin, Grand Itasca Foundation Director.

The Close to Home campaign, which kicked off to the public in February, will support a new cancer and infusion center for patients and their families at Grand Itasca. The new space will offer a private entrance for infusion patients, 12 new infusion bays with windows to the outdoors, an outdoor patio and healing garden, and an inpatient pharmacy dedicated to infusion patients. This new environment will support full-time oncology coverage and will promote comfort and healing for patients in the greater Itasca region.

"This community is known for their dedication and support for special projects that will directly benefit people in our community and this project is no exception. As the Co-Chair for this campaign, I personally want to thank the donors and volunteers who have contributed their time and generous gifts to help us improve and expand the patient experience at Grand Itasca. Our community and its leaders should feel proud of another successful campaign and project for our area," says Dale Adams, Close to Home Capital Campaign Steering Committee Co-Chair.

The renovation is expected to be complete in early 2018. Grand Itasca plans to celebrate with an open house for the public when the renovations are complete. For more information about the Close to Home campaign, please call 218-999-1009 or visit www.granditasca.org/closetohome.
