Hayes attended Carleton College in Northfield, MN, where see got her bachelors degree in biology and then later attended Hibbing Community College for her associates in nursing. She is originally from Hibbing, MN and worked for Fairview Range in Hibbing, MN for the last 13 years. She currently lives in Grand Rapids, with her husband and three kids. “I was a patient a lot when I was younger and know health care can be difficult to navigate. In my role at Grand Itasca, I am able to guide patients through their journey and remove some of that fear of the unknown for them,” says Hayes.

Hayes works closely with Grand Itasca’s dedicated breast surgeon, Dr. Lisa Owens, and on-site radiologists, including Dr. Rebecca Kuntz, plus a group of experienced mammography technologists. “In my first couple weeks at Grand Itasca, I’ve been very impressed with the team we have here. Dr. Owens does a great job of putting her patients at ease, and it’s evident that they respect and trust her. Dr. Kuntz listens well to patients and is great at walking them through really tough situations. The mammography technologists care for our patients with kindness and respect. It’s a great group of women to work with and receive care from!” says Hayes. Kim Morse, mammography technologist, says “Dawn is a fantastic addition to our team. She has a very calming personality and is a great listener.”
