Grand Itasca Named a Best Hospital for Maternity Care & Access
In addition to being named a Best Hospital for Maternity Care, we are also honored to receive the Maternity Care Access Hospital designation. This distinction is awarded to hospitals serving communities that would otherwise face significant maternity care gaps. Only 75 hospitals nationwide received both recognitions for 2024-2025.
Providing the Best in Maternity Care—Where It's Needed Most
Being recognized by U.S. News & World Report reflects our dedication to excellence in maternal health care. This achievement underscores our entire team's hard work and compassion in delivering high-quality, patient-centered maternity services.
What Sets Top Maternity Hospitals Apart
To determine the best hospitals for maternity care, the U.S. News & World Report assesses hospitals based on a comprehensive set of quality measures, which are weighted to create a composite score. Below is a breakdown of these measures:
- Newborn Complications: Measures the rate of newborn complications, ensuring that hospitals maintain low rates.
- Cesarean Sections: Evaluates the rate of cesarean sections, promoting hospitals with lower rates of unnecessary C-sections.
- Breastfeeding: Assesses support for breastfeeding and measures the percentage of mothers exclusively breastfeeding their newborns.
- Early Elective Deliveries: Ensures hospitals minimize early elective deliveries, which can lead to complications.
Grand Itasca excelled in these key areas, demonstrating our commitment to the highest standards of care.
