About Me & My Care Philosophy

LGBTQIA Care Provider & Identified/Ally

I’m originally from Nerstrand and did rotations in Grand Rapids, as an RPAP student, during my 3rd year of medical school. I moved to Klamath Falls, Oregon to complete my residency in Family Medicine and afterward I stayed on as faculty with the residency, practicing rural full scope family medicine (including OB). During my time in OR, I also worked as a Hospitalist and practiced in emergency rooms on the remote Oregon coast. While our family grew to love the mountains, desert and coastal landscape, the call back to the Midwest was strong. I feel lucky to be able to come back to practice in such a great environment and community. In my free time, I can usually be found outside chasing our two kids and three German Shorthairs by bike, ski or foot.

I view the emergency department as a high risk transition zone in medicine. It is a transition to further outpatient care, surgery, admission, or sometimes to a different facility for a higher level of care. It’s my goal to be able to make these transitions of care as smooth as possible for patients who are in an environment that is often times filled with uncertainty.
